JFSA Financial Start-up Support Program Renewed for Fiscal Year 2026

weConnect Continues as Official Program Delivery Partner for Third Consecutive Year

Tokyo, Japan – weConnect Japan is pleased to announce that the Japan Financial Services Agency’s (JFSA) Financial Start-up Support Program has been renewed for Fiscal Year 2026, continuing the Japanese government’s efforts to attract international financial services firms and asset managers to establish operations in Japan.
weConnect has been reappointed as the program’s official subcontractor for the third consecutive year and will continue providing market entry support to participating firms together with its network of specialist partners.

As part of the renewed program, eligible applicants can access reimbursement for up JPY 15 million in setup costs. Seventy percent (70%) of the JPY 15M can be reimbursed. Additionally, applicants can also access comprehensive English-language support covering company establishment, licensing, immigration, recruitment, tax, payroll, compliance and operational infrastructure.

“We are truly honored that the JFSA has once again put their trust in us to help steward this program’s success,” said Matthew Kyle, Chief Commercial Officer & Co-Founder of weConnect. “The Financial Start-up Support Program has become an important initiative for international financial firms considering Japan, helping to reduce both the cost and complexity of establishing operations in one of the world’s most important financial markets.”

The program supports eligible firms seeking to conduct regulated financial services activities in Japan, including investment management, investment advisory and other financial services businesses regulated under Japan’s Financial Instruments and Exchange Act.

With continued government support for international financial institutions and asset managers, the renewal of the program further reinforces Japan’s commitment to strengthening its position as a leading global asset management and financial centre.

Applications for the FY2026 Financial Start-up Support Program are now open.
